Shape Run 2006
Participated in the Shape Run 2006 on July 16th. It’s Singapore’s first ever women-only competitive run. My first attempt too, in a competitive run ever since secondary school.
Pretty excited when I knew about the run and of course, the contents of the runner’s kit did its part to get me going :p. Managed to get Jo to participate with me.
Since I haven’t been running outdoors with Norman for quite sometime and I did all my running indoors (same goes for Jo, who hasn’t been running for a while), we came up with a training schedule. Hmm, however, we only followed the schedule for like…..2 weeks. One training per week. We ended up practicing on our own instead, haha.
Unfortunately, poor Jo came down with a bad cough just days before the run. Figuring that the run would worsen her condition, it was decided that she forfeit the participation fee.
To my surprise, Jo insisted going with me on the actual day to cheer me on. Good ol’ Jo! She can jolly well sleep in on a Sunday lo…So sweet of her :)
The run was great and there’s so many seasoned runners around. Looking at them kinda motivates you.
I think if I were to run the 10km route, I may really need an Ipod…coz it kinda gets boring running alone.
Took ages to queue for the running certificate and runner’s kit though. All in all, it was still fun. Went to Cali after that to shower (part of the perks of being a member, haha) and meet Sharon whom went for her usual class to go for our planned Sakae Sushi lunch. Come to think of it, the lunch was probably another motivation factor for me to complete my run, haha.

Yea! Mission completed! And look what I've got: a Zesprit Golden Kiwi! Haha.
Next personal goal: to run faster than this!:)
